I'll begin with the most recent event and move backwards. Our Maryland family went to the Oriole's game on Friday night. The weather was perfect and we had such fun. Cal always likes it when we sit all the way at the top of the top deck and, sure enough, that is where our tickets were. Melissa made a sign (like she always does) and for the first time she was on the Jumb Tron. She's famous!! Her Davis cousins were there and sent a text saying they saw her. How cool is that? The Justs were sitting in front of us, unfortunately for them, and took the group shot for us. I think Baltimore has the greatest location for watching a ballgame, don't you agree? It was a great place to celebrate Rayzel's 9th birthday and Alex's 11th. Now if they could just win a game when we go.
CHARGE!Earlier in the week I spent two days with my fifth grade class at Camp Schmidt, also with terrific weather. This is some of the gang on the wagon ride.
Our school received a large grant to purchase new playground equipment. The school and community had to provide the labor. Some of the equipment went in front of the school for the younger students and the rest on the side for the intermediate students. The husbands of the fifth grade teachers were there all day helping to put the pieces together and installing them. I helped with the putting together part. The holes were three feet deep and concrete was poured after everything was level. At the end of the day 10-12 inches of mulch was applied. We have had a great deal of mud and it was difficult to put the equipment together in it but we finally succeeded. I am also happy to say that Cal's shoes stayed behind in the dumpster.
