I'll begin with the most recent event and move backwards. Our Maryland family went to the Oriole's game on Friday night. The weather was perfect and we had such fun. Cal always likes it when we sit all the way at the top of the top deck and, sure enough, that is where our tickets were. Melissa made a sign (like she always does) and for the first time she was on the Jumb Tron. She's famous!! Her Davis cousins were there and sent a text saying they saw her. How cool is that? The Justs were sitting in front of us, unfortunately for them, and took the group shot for us. I think Baltimore has the greatest location for watching a ballgame, don't you agree? It was a great place to celebrate Rayzel's 9th birthday and Alex's 11th. Now if they could just win a game when we go.
Earlier in the week I spent two days with my fifth grade class at Camp Schmidt, also with terrific weather. This is some of the gang on the wagon ride.

The game sounds like it was a blast! Too bad my timing was off, or else Ron and I would have been at the game with the Justs and could have had more fun with you there! Ron got home from Utah that night, and I didn't get home until Sunday. Sorry we missed the chance to be there with you, but I'm glad you had fun. Congrats on all the new playground equipment for the school, too! That's awesome that you got the money for it, and even more extraordinary that there was so much help to install it.
Wow, that was quite a building project to be done in one day! I'll bet the kids were excited about that. The game looks great. It is a very nice stadium.
What a crew at the baseball game! Looks so fun. And what a hard day's work on the playground--I can totally see you rolling up your sleeves and "digging" in.
I hope I can get my Mom to blog now that they are finished with their mission. What a cool thing for you to do. :)
Hi. Great post! The new playground looks great. Kudos to ALL who volunteered!!! Providing safe places for kids to hang out and play is definitely something we can all feel good about.
Anne sent us a story a while back about her involvement in getting a new playground built in her hometown -- it was a real "aha moment" when she realized how much the project meant to her AND the kids. I thought you and your readers might enjoy it.
