Birthdays and random thoughts

May is a month where I lose track of things. School is handing out paperwork that "only takes a few minutes," except that there is so much of it that the minutes really add up. Church responsiblities are the same, it isn't extremely time consuming just enough to make it hard to stay on top of (that and my selective memory which makes it hard for me to remember what I said I'd do). Anyway I forgot Maya's birthday. It was May 3rd and I forgot. Now I've added it to my google calendar at school so it won't happen again. Tammy's was a couple of days after Mother's Day and I remembered it but didn't get the gift there in time. Drew's wasn't too hard because 1: it was on a Saturday and 2: he lives next door and reminds me. My first born, Dale, has a birthday on the same day as my sister. He at least got a birthday call (the gift should get to you by tomorrow). Melissa is tomorrow. She is such a sweetheart and I can't believe she's nine already. I guess that does it for May, now for June.

By the way, Alison has starting posting on her blog. So now I can at least stay involved in my children/grandchildren by checking out the blogs. Karen started a new blog about her experiences with Maya. Check them out.

I would forget half of those if I had that many. She really likes talking to you on the phone lately and looking at pictures of you.

I'm sure Maya will forgive you. And, if not, she will make sure to remind you (and everyone else) about her big day when she is older.

I did talk to her on the telephone since Karen called and hinted that it was her birthday. We'll do something fun when she gets here.

So - funny thing, Clint was telling me about that evacuation experience as we were driving to the island!

Maybe it would help if you immediately write down each commitment on a "things to do" list or on a calendar or something so that you wouldn't have to depend on your selective memory. My memory is so selective that it's not selective: meaning that I remember close to 0%.

I do write down my priorties, then I lose the list.
