The Pilgrims made seven times more graves than huts. No Americans have been more impoverished than these who, nevertheless, set aside a day of thanksgiving.
I have so much to be thankful for. Sometimes when I think about the hardships my ancestors went through I am amazed that I have experienced so many blessings. I am thankful for my family, my church, my friends, my home, my job, my health, and for seeing the sun today. Alison gave a talk on gratitude at church on Sunday that helped me put a little more effort into being grateful. So, I have been thinking about all of these blessings this week and stopping to thank my Father in Heaven for them. At the same time I know that people who do not have the same blessings are also very loved by Him. We all have blessings to be grateful for.
We gathered at Dale's house for the thanksgiving festivities. We had a great time enjoying each other's company. We missed Alison and Karen and their families (Dale, Stephen and Thomas had to forgo the usual Alison sandwich hug). Kaeli McCall, my cousin Greg's daughter who served a mission here a couple of years ago, joined us. I know the picture is fuzzy (I forgot to use the flash) but I hope you get the point. Many hands were busy preparing dinner.

Looks like fun. I missed you all. Did Steve make cheesecake?
We missed you too. No Alison sandwich this year. Steve made two cheesecakes. The strawberry was extraordinary and I haven't tasted the plain yet (but do have a piece in my leftover container). It was all good.
cheesecake was (and still is!) yummy! It did go well, and the food was very delicious! Thanks for everything you did!
How fun! We missed you guys! I didn't realize that an "Alison Sandwich" was a tradition.
